long time no post…. i haven’t finished my trinidad / tobago vegan adventure post yet…. and i haven’t really been traveling as much as i did last year.
i planned a trip up to atlanta with a great friend to stay with her aunt in roswell, georgia. she was well prepared for the vegan food adventures i had in store.
our first stop was in orlando for some delicious doughnuts at valhalla bakery at the market on south. yum yum! ❤ my only wish is that dixie dharma would open earlier than 11!
you know you’re road tripping with a photographer when they (me) make you drive 12 miles off the highway to see a produce farm. snuck in some drive by shootings of some baby goats and horses. i wanted to run up and hug them so bad!
after an extremely long drive (fort lauderdale to atlanta) we found a vegan joint open on MONDAY!!! (and it happened to be memorial day as well!) thank you green sprout vegetarian!!!
started with the chicken drumsticks. i miss the vietnamese places in the bay area where i use to inhale the drumsticks. these were pretty decent! the sauce was hottttttttt!
i ordered the butternut squash with plum sauce for my entree and it was pretty fantastic! such a beautiful dish.
i traveled up to atlanta for a photo workshop so tuesday i had chipotle during the conference and stopped at trader joes for some dinner and snacks. not a blogworthy day!
wednesday i headed to atlanta with my travel mate for some vegan noms. we ventured over to soul vegetarian 2 near little five points. oh my goodness it was so tasty!
my entree was served with a house salad. i drank the dressing guys. literally drank it. tahini garlic dressing for the win. SO SO GOOD.
the split pea soup was delicious.
my meal: bbq cauliflower, mac and cheese and collard greens. yum yum and more yum. totally hit the spot. i was so full i couldn’t even order butter pecan ice cream for dessert. if you’re in the atlanta area definitely hit up soul vegetarian 2 for some southern vegan cuisine! my friend ordered the lentil burger and it looked UHMAZING.
the owners were super friendly and the restaurant was pretty busy for 3pm on a wednesday. it’s not a fancy place but the food was wonderful. i’d definitely go back!
thursday i opted for snacks we purchased at a cooperative we found in little five points. i got some tofu wraps, macaroni salad, etc and just chowed down on the groceries all day while enjoying some hiking!
friday we headed back to south florida. SAD FACE…..but we stopped for lunch at dixie dharma in orlando and it was so yummy i forgot my vacation was over!
i ordered the fried green tomato sandwich, cheesy homies and the hail kale salad with tempeh (86 corn). OH MY GOD — it was SO good. i want to move to orlando just to have all the vegan noms.
i had an excellent travel partner….she enjoyed all of the vegan foods (even though she isn’t vegan) and overall it was a super fun road trip adventure!
i’m heading to san francisco to shoot a wedding in a few weeks so stay tuned for more of my vegancation adventures!
